Rooting Instructions

  • This rooting procedure is to be used only for the Xperia Z (C6602/3) FW 10.3.1.A.0.244
  • Modifying / replacing your phone's software may void the phone's warranty and may render phone to 'brick' status - meaning your phone will not be worth much more than a brick. 
  • Rooting a phone is entirely at your own risk. No one affiliated with ROMWarez is responsible for your decision to root your phone.
  • Unlocking the bootloader on most phones will automatically wipe all data.
  • Ensure phone is fully charged.
  • Always backup your current Apps/Data/SMS Messages before performing any type of rooting procedure. Find these backup apps on Google Play.

Rooting Phone
  • Download USB drivers for computer.
  • Download kernel.
  • Download and extract to desktop the Easy Rooting Toolkit.
  • Download and install the Sony FlashTool.
  • Enable USB debugging: Menu --> Settings --> Applications --> Development
  • Enable Unknown Sources: Menu --> Settings --> Applications
  • Ensure phone is placed in 'Charge Only' mode.
  • Start FlashTool.
  • Flash XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.f tf. 
  • After flashing above 10.3.A.0.423 kernel, reboot phone and connect to PC.
  • Close FlashTool <<< VVVIMP STEP
  • Open 'Easy-Rooting-Toolkit and start the 'runme_ file' corresponding to your OS on desktop PC, this will execute a special version of the rooting toolkit <<< VVVIMP STEP
  • Note: This rooting procedure will not root phone using any older version of the toolkit.
  • After rooting process has completed, phone will restart.
  • Verify device is rooted by checking for SuperSU app.
  • Once root has been confirmed, power down device and open FlashTool.
  • Flash XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.1.A.0.244_BE.ftf to return the phones updated kernel.
  • Phone is rooted!

Hardware Key Combinations
Booting into Fastboot Mode: Hold Volume Up + Connect the USB cable 
Notification light should turn blue to indicate you are in fastboot mode.
